  • We designed a structured and unbiased approach to screening and interviewing candidates, both internal and external.

  • In addition to a couple strong internal candidates, we identified and presented five highly qualified and interested external candidates, when the board had only expected one or two.

  • We facilitated a quick and effective interview process which narrowed our candidates down to three finalists. The board had what they needed to make an informed decision, and we were there to advise, manage the candidates, and keep the process moving.

  • After the board selected their candidate of choice, we made a deal and establish next steps to ensure the new CEO’s success. We also made a point to thoughtfully and respectfully notify the candidates who were not selected.

  • The outcome? Over 100 candidates, 35 days from start to finish, three finalists and one happy board of directors.

Background: The board of directors was facing a difficult challenge. Their CEO of 16 years was retiring with relatively short notice. With the future of the organization at stake, the board was determined to find the best possible leader to steer them through the challenges ahead.
